It's not easy trying to figure out where to have date night Valentine's Day week; especially if you don't want to battle other couples for a reservation earlier than 10PM. If you're like us and appreciate a solid meal, chill ambiance and a lengthy beverage list (and don't want to get caught in any tourist traps), we wreckmend the following for date night in the NYC area that won't break the bank.
Pro Tip: #WreckYourDiet at these restaurants on February 13 and avoid the duos who only go out to eat on special occasions.
A cozy wine bar located in the West Village offering Italian style tapas, that is beyond perfect for casual date night or Valentine's Day. We wreckmend ordering the Gogonzola Stuffed Dates, Mozzerella Saporita, Gnocchi Sorrentina, Aragosta e Avacado Salad (with lobster), Meat & Cheese Plate and Manzo Filet Mignon.
Address: 117 Perry Street
An UES local favorite, Heidi's House has a quaint American menu with seasonal and locally sourced ingredients. They also have a solid beer and wine list. With just a few tables, this place really makes you feel like you're dining in someone's living room.
The menu constantly changes, but we wreckmend ordering the 100% organic Mac & Cheese with lobster or white truffle oil and the Pasta of the Day (Gnocchi if available). If you're planning on sharing with your date, get the Paella and share a bottle of red wine.
Address: 308 E. 78th Street
If you're more of a beer and pizza kind of couple, you will want to check out this spot. A Staten Island staple, this East Village offspring recently opened and you are going to love every bite. We wreckmend ordering Rice Balls, the 1960 Original Pie and a Vodka Pie.
Address: 168 1st Avenue
If you're going classic Italian for V-day, this is your place. We have said it before, and we'll say it again, this place never disappoints. Cute downtown location, friendly staff and delicious piping hot food when it comes out of the kitchen. We wreckmend ordering the Gnocchi, Calamari, Veal Parmesan and washing it down with a bottle of Nero d'avola.
Address: 214 Front Street
Luna in Jersey City
Just a short ferry ride from Downtown Manhattan, this place is worth the trip to New Jersey! It has a cool atmosphere that serves updated versions of classic Italian dishes like Cajun Calamari with Balsamic Reduction. We wreckmend the Burrata, Lobster Ravioli, Cacio e Pepe and lots and lots of the bread! Don't forget to try their signature cocktails, we loved the Palmonita (El Buho mezcal, lime, grapefruit juice, muddled jalapeño, salted rim)
Address: 279 Grove Street
If you're down for seafood and a low-key hipster atmosphere, check out Sea Wolf in Williamsburg. You should definitely try the Lobster Corn Dog, Oysters, Fried Clam Strips and Fish and Chips. If you're a foodie couple who loves to share, consider "The Sea Wolf" - a bacon avocado cheeseburger with 1/2 pound lobster and fries that is dripping in butter.
Address: 19 Wyckoff Avenue
